Link the delivery receipt to the damage log
Use the same crate and piece IDs on the packing list, photos and damage log. Record how many pieces arrived, where you saw the damage and which photos show the label, the full piece and the affected area. If a piece could not be checked safely, record it as inaccessible.
Example entry: Crate C-A, piece A: chip at the lower outside corner; photos CA-label, CA-full and CA-corner. Delivery receipt DR-A notes the exception; piece held for review; carrier notification recorded in the notice field.
Missing photos can make the condition harder to demonstrate. Keep the delivery receipt, packing list, carrier notices and other contemporaneous records together. Use the applicable contract, carrier and insurance terms to determine notice deadlines and required evidence.
